Why climbing trees is good for you
For us, climbing trees isn’t just about reaching new heights; it’s about a connection with nature. Recreational tree climbing with Goodleaf offers numerous benefits:
- It’s a confidence booster, enhancing spatial awareness and problem-solving skills.
- It encourages engagement with the natural surroundings, stimulating physical and mental development.
- You need to focus – it’s a welcome break from the constantly distracting modern world.
- It’s quality time in nature which has been linked to reduced stress levels, improved mood, and overall well-being for people of all ages.
- We provide cake!
We like to encourage you to embrace these benefits while embarking on an adventure into the tree canopy.
What you need to climb trees with Goodleaf
At Goodleaf, we want to ensure your tree climbing experience is safe, enjoyable, and memorable. The tree is prepared for you in advance and from harnesses to helmets, all participants are equipped for their ascent into the canopy.
Our expert instructors will be by your side, guiding you every step of the way with encouragement and assistance. No prior climbing experience is necessary; we welcome adventurers of all skill levels. All you need is a sense of adventure and a willingness to ‘have a go’ to see the Isle of Wight from a unique perspective.
We provide a list of what you need with your booking. We suggest long sleeve and long trousers and layers in the spring and autumn. You also need trainers or other lace up shoes. You might want to bring something to sit on as the ground is likely to be damp, something to drink and a camera. We don’t advise wearing gloves but we do have some to buy if you feel you need them.

What is good about spring on the Isle of Wight
With one of the mildest climates in the UK, spring on the Isle of Wight is special. As nature awakens from its winter slumber, the Island bursts into life with the vibrant colours of new growth. The mild climate and longer daylight hours create the perfect conditions for outdoor activities. Imagine ascending into the canopy surrounded by the sights and sounds of spring: birdsong filling the air, fresh leaves rustling in the breeze, and the warm sun dappling through the branches – highly recommended.

Goodleaf Tree Climbing location
Located on the picturesque Isle of Wight, we mainly operate from the lovely Appley Park in Ryde with very occasional off-site adventures. Appley Beach is close by – about 2 minutes walk and there’s easy access to public transport. Appley is a tranquil spot, perfect for a tree climbing adventure. With its convenient location and scenic surroundings, come and discover the hidden gem of Appley from a unique perspective.
